NexTReT (31/05/2023 - Current)

Role: Software architect

Software Architect on projects managed by T-Systems for the Generalitat de Catalunya (Regional Government of Catalonia).

June 2023 – February 2024: Worked on the Evidències Digitals (Digital Evidence) project for the Department of Justice of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Developed with Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux. Designed and developed complex components for uploading and downloading files of any type.

Designed a customised version of the tus protocol (version 1.0.x, synchronous) to enable evidence file uploads of thousands of gigabytes, supporting resumption in case of communication interruption. The system ensures integrity through progressive SHA-384 hash computation during upload.

Also designed tools and processes to transform audio and video in order to mask faces and voices. This is a legal requirement to protect children’s privacy, as well as witnesses and police officers.

Designed and implemented a WebFlux reactive server to download files from digital storage (Hitachi Content Platform). This technology was chosen because it can handle many concurrent requests without exhausting server threads. The server supports downloading files in full or in parts using HTTP Range headers.

February 2024 – February 2026: Software Architect for all projects of the Department of Justice managed by T-Systems. Designed and developed common elements applicable to any project within the Department of Justice area.

Designed the complete authentication and authorisation process for micro-frontends, with dynamic adaptation to any of the three authentication scenarios required by the customer. Designed and developed the backend that the frontend interacts with for authentication, as well as a library for any other backend and microservices in the Justice ecosystem. It operates transparently with different JWT token issuers to verify authentication and authorisation, and exposes information about the user associated with the JWT token.

Due to flaws in the original design, I redesigned and developed a synchronisation process between a relational database and MongoDB. This process is based on the Kafka CDC (Confluent) event system.

Designed and developed a backend to connect with an AI agent equipped with four tools for assisting in Justice-related matters, serving public workers of the Department of Justice as well as professionals and citizens.

February 2026 – present: Transferred as Principal Architect to the area of Drets Socials i Igualtat (Department of Social Rights and Equality), another department of the Government of Catalonia, also managed by T-Systems.

Reviewed and redesigned components migrated from a J2EE environment to a microservices environment, identifying design problems as well as development errors.

Migrated a legacy postal address verification and normalisation service to a new provider, as the original provider had ceased operations. The service is critical to nearly every process within the Department.

Amended the current design of several key components in the “Golden Record” ecosystem maintained by the Department.

BASE Gestió d’Ingresos — Public company of the Government of Tarragona Province (07/01/2019 - 31/05/2023 )

Role: Software architect

During my second tenure at BASE, my primary task was reviewing and redesigning the architectural patterns of company’s framework, adapting it to new technologies, languages and framework versions.

The goal was to migrate from a J2EE application environment with EJB to a Microservices architecture exposing REST APIs.

I also managed the transition to a CI/CD pipeline, Docker containers, and a simplification and modernization of the UI technology.

Freelance (23/06/2014 - 30/10/2018 )

Role: Analyst Programmer

I worked for Desigual and Editorial Planeta as an architect and software developer. I also designed and developed a continuous compliance verification system for waste collection services used by the Torredembarra City Council. The software processed electronic records from truck’s on-board weighing systems, capturing container identification, waste weight, date, and GPS position. Using this data, the software compared actual collection records against the planned collector calendar and estimated three key metrics: missed scheduled collections, incorrect waste segregation (mixed types) and container count deviations per waste category (over/under collection vs. contract)

The software enabled detection of errors previously invisible to manual inspection. This capability allowed the City Council to negotiate service credits with the contractor for waste collection losses, recovering value through data-driven accountability.

BASE Gestió d’Ingresos — Public company of the Government of Tarragona Province (02/08/2002 - 22/06/2014 )

Role: Software architect

I served as a Software Architect responsible for two main projects: eGIM and BaseFrame.

eGIM was an application to manage traffic fines using an end-to-end electronic processing model, covering all parties involved in the legal procedure—from police officers in the field and driver notifications to administrative processing and case resolution. This approach significantly improved outcomes in traffic fine management. Without this system, only 25% of issued fines were processed , and just 9% of those processed fines were successfully collected. With this software, 99.99% of issued fines reached processing , and 95% of processed fines resulted in collection.

BaseFrame was a framework for developing applications that covered not only software components but also procedures, design patterns, and standards. It served as the mandatory technical baseline for all software contractors engaged by BASE, a public-sector organisation. The framework remains in active use today.

CAST INFO,S.A. (03/07/2000 - 21/07/2002 )

Role: Software architect

I led a team of six developers in designing and developing a general-purpose framework to standardise architecture and software development practices across the company.

The framework was conceptually similar to the Spring Framework. The main difference was in the persistence layer, which operated against interfaces rather than class hierarchies. This approach provided greater flexibility in defining SQL-to-object mappings.

Before the framework reached its first production-ready version, the Spring Framework had gained widespread adoption in Spain, and the company decided it was preferable to adopt Spring rather than continue developing the in-house framework.
